I'm not sure why, but I have always felt a strong attachment to seagoing ships. And more than that, I find shipwrecks to be both beautiful and mysterious. As the broken hull and superstructure are pounded by the surf and gradually reduced to rust, new colors and shapes emerge. Their derelict hulks tweak my imagination: Who lived on these ships? What was their cargo and port of call? Why did they sink and did their crew survive? I will probably never know, but their relics are fascinating.
